Rox Punch Past Bravehearts

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Bravehearts fell 3-2 in Tuesday night’s meeting with the Brockton Rox at Fitton Field.

Brockton moves to 18-29 with the win while the Bravehearts fall to 19-27.

The ‘Hearts got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning. A sacrifice fly by Sal Grinstead (Palm Beach State) scored David Pedanou (Dayton).

Brockton came back in the top half of the fifth. A two-out RBI double by Noah Jankowski (Bates) scored Jack Doyle (Northeastern) to even the score 1-1.

A two-run home run in the top of the sixth by Mike La Rocca (Southern New Hampshire) broke the tie, also scoring Liam Foley (Bowdoin).

In the bottom of the ninth, an RBI groundout by Gavin Noriega (Marist) scored Kosta Drosidis (Anna Maria) to cut the deficit to one, but that would be all the scoring the ‘Hearts could muster.

The win went to Brockton reliever Anthony Nofi (Flagler). He pitched 1.2 scoreless innings for the Rox, giving up just one hit while striking out one. Bravehearts relief pitcher Nick Choate (Anna Maria) took the loss. He gave up three runs (two earned) in two innings on two hits and a walk while striking out three. The save went to Brockton’s Thomas Shurtleff (Penn), who tossed three innings of one-run ball on two hits and a walk while striking out one.

The Bravehearts are on the road Wednesday evening against the Nashua Silver Knights. First pitch at Holman Stadium is scheduled for 6:00.
