Walk-Off Winner in Worcester!

Worcester, MA – On Worcester Tornadoes night at Fitton Field, the Worcester Bravehearts came from behind late to beat the Pittsfield Suns with an 8-7, 10-inning walk-off victory Saturday night.

The Bravehearts move to 8-6 with the win. Pittsfield falls to 6-9.

Worcester got the scoring started in the bottom half of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by TJ Wachter (Fordham).

In the top of the third, Pittsfield knotted the score at 1-1 when Cole Wojtkowski (Bryant) scored on an error. The Bravehearts would respond with a four-run bottom of the frame.

Kosta Drosidis (Anna Maria) scored on a David Pedanou (Dayton) groundout. Jake Marquez (Maine) followed with a two-run double that scored Gavin Noriega (Marist) and Wachter. The inning was capped off when Marquez scored on an Andrew Chronister (Shippensberg) sacrifice fly.

The Suns worked their way back into the game with a run apiece in both the fourth and fifth innings. Pittsfield followed that up with a three-run sixth, in which a three-run double by David Bedrosian (Pomona Pitzer) scored Marcus Forrester (Colby), Austin Rachiele (MCLA) and Christian Limon (Amherst) gave the Suns a 6-5 lead. Bedrosian came through for Pittsfield again in the top of the eighth with an RBI triple that brought Forrester home and put the Suns up 7-5.

The Bravehearts rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Another sacrifice fly by Chronister scored Marquez, and Mark Darakjy (Northeastern) would come home on a two-out RBI single by Drosidis to tie the game 7-7.

After neither team could break the tie in the ninth, the Bravehearts put the winning run across in the bottom of the 10th. A based-loaded single by Wachter scored Matty Warren (Palm Beach Atlantic), completing the comeback and giving Worcester the victory.

Cam Seymour (Southern Maine) got the win for the Bravehearts, tossing a scoreless 10th inning, giving up one walk and no hits while striking out one. Suns reliever Jared Henry (UMass) took the loss. In 0.2 innings, he gave up an unearned run on three hits and a walk.

The Bravehearts conclude their homestand tomorrow against the New Britain Bees. Due to inclement weather, first pitch has been moved up to 1:00.
