Worcester Falls to Nashua

Worcester, MA— The Worcester Bravehearts fell to the Nashua Silver Knights Saturday night, 6-2. With the loss, Worcester moves to 24-23, while Nashua moves to 16-30.

 

Nashua jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, forcing two errors out of the Worcester defense. Nashua added another run in the fourth. Holden native and Wachusett Regional alum Kevin Skagerlind (UMass Amherst) drove in a run with a pinch-hit double, bringing the score to 5-0. A double by Sam McNulty (Boston College) brought the Nashua lead to 6-1 in the eighth. 

 

Kenney Mallory Jr. (Vanderbilt) led the team in hits, going 3-4 with three singles. Zach DeMattio (Wheaton) represented the only other Worcester hit when he crushed a ball over the center field fence in the ninth. 

 

Worcester starter and North Grafton native Jack Choate (Assumption) was on the hook for the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out five. Nashua starter Nick Guarino (Southern Connecticut State) earned the win, pitching five innings, giving up one hit and four walks while striking out seven.

 

Worcester will face the Brockton Rox tomorrow, July 25th for a doubleheader with the first game beginning at 2:00 p.m., and the second game beginning thirty minutes after the first game ends.
