NESN to Broadcast Bravehearts Game

Worcester, MA- The Worcester Bravehearts will be returning to regional television on Saturday, July 10th when they host the Pittsfield Suns on NESN. The game, originally scheduled for 6:30 pm, has been moved to 12:00 pm and is the first of four Futures League games broadcast on NESN this summer.

For those that want to watch the team live in-person as opposed to on television, the Bravehearts are offering $5 tickets and a free hot dog to anyone who makes a sign that could possibly be shown on the broadcast. This “Sign Me Up” contest sponsored by Rockland Trust will also offer fans a grand-prize package including a team-signed bat, an opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a future Bravehearts game and other items.

“As a league that showcases players from all over New England, it is a real thrill to be featured on the New England Sports Network,” said Bravehearts General Manager Dave Peterson. “NESN offers fans throughout the region an opportunity to connect with the hustle brand of baseball and whimsical entertainment featured at each of our league’s 8 ballparks, especially Fitton Field.”

This will be the second time a Bravehearts game will be carried on NESN, but the first in front of a home crowd. Last season the team made their debut on regional television when they took on the Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium with no fans due to COVID protocols. With the league and team now operating at full capacity, the ‘Hearts are giving the fans an opportunity to find themselves on the big screen.

Worcester-native Don Porcaro Jr will be the designated play-by-play broadcaster for all four Futures League Games on NESN. A graduate of Holy Name High School in Worcester and Suffolk University in Boston, Porcaro was named the Bravehearts Director of Production in 2020. He was also the play-by-play broadcaster for the Futures League debut on NESN for their three game series in 2020.

“My childhood dream was to be a sports broadcaster on a big stage,” said Porcaro. “Being able to create a partnership with NESN and the FCBL last year and see how far it’s grown one year later is something that is very special to me. I can’t wait to be able to get back on the microphone and tell the stories of all of these exceptional athletes.”
