Worcester Wins third Straight

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Bravehearts rallied to defeat the Pittsfield Suns 6-3 Saturday night at Fitton Field.

Worcester moves to 25-31 on the season while Pittsfield falls to 23-32. 

Pittsfield got on the board in the first when Anton Lazits (Columbia) scored on an error. 

The Suns extended their lead with a run apiece in the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, an RBI single by Sam Sherman (Merrimack) scored Brock Mercado (UNC-Asheville). The fifth saw another RBI single from Brennan Hyde (Nichols) that brought in Lazits for the second time, giving Pittsfield a 3-0 lead. 

An RBI double from Matt Livingston (Siena) that brought in Cam Caraher (Southern New Hampshire) got the scoring started for the Bravehearts in the bottom of the fifth. Livingston would score on an RBI double by Lewis Barnum (Bryant). 

A two-run sixth inning gave the ‘Hearts the lead. Caraher scored on an error, after which Livingston came home on another Pittsfield error. 

The Bravehearts wouldn’t look back. Two more insurance runs came across in the eighth. An RBI single by Matty Warren (Palm Beach Atlantic) scored Sal Grinstead (Palm Beach State). A Gavin Noriega (Marist) groundout would then drive in David Pedanou (Dayton). 

The win went to Bravehearts reliever Nick Choate (Anna Maria). Choate gave up one earned run in two innings on two hits and two walks, striking out four. The loss went to Pittsfield’s Jared Henry (UMass Amherst), who gave up two unearned runs on no hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Tyson Luna (Amherst) threw three scoreless innings to pick up the save, giving up no hits and a walk while striking out two. 

The Bravehearts are at home Sunday afternoon when they face the Norwich Sea Unicorns. First pitch from Fitton Field is scheduled for 4:00.
