Bravehearts Burned By Suns

PITTSFIELD, MA— The Bravehearts lost 5-3 to the Pittsfield Suns on Wednesday night, making their overall record 5-6 for the season, dropping them below .500.

Worcester started strong, scoring the first two runs of the game in the top of the second inning. The Suns answered in the bottom of the second, quickly scoring three runs off Worcester starter Scott Nosky (Framingham State) to take the lead.

The score remained at 3-2 until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Suns scored two runs off of a single to left-center field. The Bravehearts were able to take one run back in the top of the eighth inning but were unable to close the gap, making the final score 5-3.

Nosky started the game, giving up three runs for the Bravehearts. Grafton native, Jack Choate (Assumption), came in to pitch in the third inning and went six full innings, finishing the game with seven strikeouts. Choate gave up two runs in the seventh, which would end up being the difference in the game.

The Bravehearts offense was effectively shut down by the Suns for most of the game. Hudson native, Michael Chaves Jr. (Worcester State) knocked in the first run of the game, scoring Nick Martin on an error by the third baseman. This was followed by Michael Perales (Amherst) hitting a fly ball to right field to knock in Gavin Noriega (Marist), making the score 2-0. Worcester’s third run was scored in the top of the eighth inning when Nick Martin (Westfield State), from Shrewsbury, knocked in Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic) on a ground ball to shortstop.

The Bravehearts play next on Thursday, June 10th at 7 p.m. against the Westfield Starfires. They return home this Friday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m. against the Norwich Sea Unicorns, where they will debut their “Friday Night Bright” jerseys.
