Bees' Pitching Stings Bravehearts

New Britain, CT – The Worcester Bravehearts’ four-game winning streak was snapped Wednesday evening against the New Britain Bees, Worcester falling 6-1 at New Britain Stadium.

The loss drops Worcester to 13-6, while New Britain now sits at 7-15.

New Britain’s win was buoyed by their pitching staff, which gave up only one run on three hits the entire game on their way to victory.

The Bees got the scoring started when the first batter of the game, Kyle Brennan, hit a solo home run to put New Britain up 1-0. Griffin Arnone added another run when he scored Danniel Rivera on an RBI triple in the third.

New Britain scored another pair in the bottom of the seventh when Noah Martinez doubled home Rivera and Mike Caruso. Martinez would come through again in the eighth, once again scoring Rivera and Caruso, albeit on a two-RBI single.

The Bravehearts got a run back in the top of the ninth when EJ Exposito (NYIT) scored on a Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth) RBI single but would come up short.

Bees starter Brendan Kirck earned the win, tossing six scoreless innings while giving up three hits, walking five and striking out three. ‘Hearts starter Christopher Mott (NYIT) took the loss, giving up two earned runs on four hits while walking three and striking out five. The save went to Ben Talbot. Talbot gave up one run in 1.1 innings pitched, walking one and striking out two.

The Bravehearts and Bees are back at it again Thursday evening when they travel to Doyle Field for a 6:00 matchup.
