Meet Your Bravehearts All-Star Pitchers

Meet your Worcester Bravehearts pitchers who will be playing in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game. The game takes place on Tuesday, July 16th at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield. The Home Run Derby will start at 6:20pm and the game will start at 7:15pm.

Meet Shawn Babineau

  1. He will be a junior at Springfield College in the fall
  2. This is his first season with the Bravehearts, but his third in the Futures League. He played for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks the last two years
  3. He made the FCBL All-Star team in 2018
  4. He also played football in high school
  5. Was named the NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Year in 2018
  6. He pitched the first six innings of the Bravehearts combined No-Hitter against the Nashua Silver Knights on Opening Night May 30, 2019
  7. On April 27, 2019 he pitched 10, yes 10, innings against WPI

Meet Angelo Baez

  1. He will be a senior at STAC in the fall
  2. This is his second season with the Bravehearts, having appeared in six games in 2018
  3. He started this season off as the Bravehearts closer, but was moved to a starter
  4. He is majoring in Education, with a minor is Social Science
  5. He has one older sister
  6. He closed out the Bravehearts combined No-Hitter against the Nashua Silver Knights on Opening Night May 30, 2019

Meet Jakob Barker

  1. He will be a sophomore at Valdosta State in the fall
  2. This is his second season with the Bravehearts, having appeared in 8 games for the team in 2017
  3. He has one brother
  4. His favorite team is the Miami Marlins

Meet Eric Chavarria

  1. He will be a sophomore at Cypress College in the fall
  2. This is his first year with the Bravehearts, and had a great first game on  June 5, 2019 against the Pittsfield Suns. He went seven innings, striking out 10 batters, and only allowing two hits
  3. He is a Business major
  4. He has two siblings, an older brother, and a younger sister
  5. His second favorite sport is frisbee golf

Meet Bryce Hellgeth

  1. He will be a sophomore at Dayton University in the fall
  2. He started this season out as a third baseman for the Bravehearts, but was then turned into a shutdown closer who has gone 8/9 in save situations
  3. He was a varsity starting quarterback in high school, as well as the team’s kicker and punter
  4. He won the Illinois baseball state championship in high school
